Message from the Director

Ron King - Executive Director

Now is the time to start planning your 2014-2020 events at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.  We are excited to announce the completion of major enhancements. Last year, began a series of improvements to our center embracing Dallas culture by incorporating original art designs as wall décor, and within our new floors. We also added a new ballroom at 19,003 sq.ft. Other upcoming projects include a new roof, and meeting room enhancements that will include a multimedia package. Construction is already underway on the roof, with a completion date of winter 2012.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center has opened its doors to new opportunities and experiences. This year we hosted the American Society of Association Executives 2012 annual meeting, with a record attendance of 6,010 meeting planners. ASAE had not held its annual meeting in Dallas since 1963. Dan Melesurgo, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for ASAE, stated, “I have heard only positive comments from our members and industry partners. I have to tell you I was impressed to see the entire convention center staff forming their own clap line and thanking our attendees as they exited the General Session on Tuesday.  That has never been done to my knowledge and it was a simple, but heartfelt ending to our meeting.  You guys are much more than partners – you are dear friends that helped us deliver an experience that we all can be very proud of.”

Other major conventions, such as, Texas Restaurant Association celebrated their 50th Anniversary with us, the annual Mary Kay Conference which were proud to have in our community hosted its’ meeting at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and has done so for the past 35 years.  New to the block is Mecum Auctions a nationally televised auto auction, for the second year has chosen Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center for auctions in this region.

The Convention Center facility, staff and service partners stand ready to offer abundant opportunity, optimism and support the entrepreneurial spirit of your event.

You, the client, have been instrumental in the Center’s success. On behalf of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, I thank you and look forward to seeing you in Dallas.
